On the Edge

Standing
    on the edge,
    pausing,
    the next step
    is eternity.
Waiting
    for a word
    to go, to come
    to enter the land
    now seen dimly.
Listening
    for voices,
    familiar ones,
    encouraging,
    full of hope.
Lingering
    and longing
    to touch again
    those souls
    loved before.
