Long Time Coming

Nothing haphazardous,
   everything planned,
     according to schedule,
      every "t" crossed,
a time completely come,
Christ in Bethlehem.

A time long time coming
   more than nine months,
    longer than a journey,
     a plan beyond planning,
from back in the beginning,
God's plan to send His Son.

As prophets foretold,
   as hopeful souls waited,
     as Mary wondered when,
      as hearts filled with longing,
every single detail finally done,
Jesus became flesh as a baby.

(Galatians 4:4)
